Farming Philosophy
Our sole aim is to provide our cattle with the best quality of life which we believe ensures that our beef is consistently of superb quality. Happy Cows make Happy Customers
To enable us to provide the very best conditions we operate a closed herd such that all animals we sell are born on the farm and reared with their mothers.
Our present breeding herd now comprises
- Pedigree Aberdeen Angus Bull 500 044
- Cragg Leo born 08 08 2006
- Pedigree Aberdeen Angus breeding females - currently 11
We propose to introduce the best of our 2007 and 2008 heifer calves into the breeding herd when they are sufficiently matured.
We have previously concentrated on spring born calves such that the calves grow with their mothers during the summer whilst grazing outside. The introduction of our stock bull will allow us to introduce a small nucleus of breeding females that will calve in the autumn. This will provide us with mature beef animals throughout the year rather than concentrating our calves maturity during only the winter months.

We have a Total Farm Quality Assurance Scheme managed by Genesis Quality Assurance Ltd and Product Authentication International We are audited each year and carry full accreditation under ref EG5915. This is also approved by the English Beef and Lamb Executive, which enables us to use their Farm Assured and Quality Assured scheme and logos. These all contribute to providing you with our full guarantee on the quality of our farming procedures and the quality of our pedigree beef sales.
We have a strict health policy and all of our cows are regularly tested to ensure that the herd remains free of the principal diseases found in many beef and dairy herds.

This health policy is managed by the Scottish Agricultural College Veterinary Services Group under their Premium Cattle Health Scheme and supervised by our Veterinary Group Bishopton Veterinary Group of Ripon.
The full herd is routinely tested for TB by the State Veterinary Service and is certified totally free of any infection.
We trust that the above schemes ensure that we have set up and now maintain farming procedures that are consistently to the best standards
